Dev Ops Engineer

Scorecard

Role Overview

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our development team and share ownership of the AWS infrastructure, deployment pipelines, observability, security practices, and operational foundations supporting Supra Human’s Next.js web application, Flutter Android application, native SwiftUI iOS application, and independently deployed NestJS services. This person will work closely with application engineers to operate and improve the existing platform, automate delivery processes, strengthen reliability and security, and progressively bring more of our infrastructure under versioned, repeatable management. As the company and platform grow, this role is expected to develop into a senior position with increasing leadership over platform architecture and engineering operations.

A-Player Defined

An A-Player in this role thinks in systems, automates thoughtfully, and treats reliability and security as product features. They collaborate closely with application engineers, share ownership of production outcomes, anticipate failure modes, write clear runbooks, and keep feedback loops tight (build → deploy → measure → improve). They bring recommendations, implement agreed solutions, document decisions, and take on increasing leadership as their knowledge of the platform grows. At Supra Human, top performers embody our values through their actions. They take extreme ownership of their work, treat every project like it’s their most important one, and always play to win.

Core Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & IaC

  • Share ownership of the existing AWS platform with the development team, serving as the team’s primary contributor for infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and operational automation. Support ECR, App Runner, API Gateway, Lambda/SAM, EventBridge Scheduler, S3/CloudFront, IAM, CloudWatch, and MongoDB integrations.
  • Inventory and progressively codify existing infrastructure and environment configuration using Terraform, AWS SAM, or CloudFormation; establish reusable patterns, tagging, and drift detection.
  • Improve secrets management, KMS usage, credential rotation, and the migration of GitHub Actions from stored AWS keys to short-lived OIDC credentials.
  • Collaborate with application engineers on MongoDB operations, backup and recovery requirements, networking, capacity, and data-retention needs.

Security & Privacy

  • Apply least-privilege IAM, standardized roles, short-lived credentials, and secure access patterns in collaboration with the development team.
  • Improve encryption in transit and at rest, private networking, secrets handling, and data-access guardrails based on the needs of the existing platform.
  • Address findings from existing security monitoring, image and dependency scanning, and AWS security services; recommend additional controls when justified by risk.
  • Partner with application and data team members on PII handling, retention policies, audit trails, and incident-response playbooks.
  • Help maintain audit evidence and resolve cloud misconfigurations in support of SOC 2, NIST-informed practices, and other company requirements.

Observability, Logging & Monitoring

  • Operate and improve Sentry and CloudWatch monitoring, logs, metrics, and dashboards; introduce X-Ray or OpenTelemetry where they provide clear value.
  • Collaborate with service-owning engineers to define SLIs/SLOs, actionable alerts, dashboards, and shared incident-response practices.
  • Create runbooks and post-incident review practices, track corrective actions, and help the team reduce recovery time.

Release Engineering & Developer Experience

  • Lead and maintain CI/CD in collaboration with the development team across Next.js web, NestJS services, Flutter Android, and native SwiftUI iOS: build, test, scan, release, and deploy.
  • Improve deployment safety through validated rollouts, rollback procedures, migration coordination, feature flags, and configuration management.
  • Provide reusable workflows, templates, golden paths, and tooling that help application engineers ship safely with less operational friction.
  • Work closely with application engineers, Data, Security, and Product to scope and deliver platform capabilities. Application engineers remain accountable for the behavior and operational readiness of the services they build and participate in related deployments and incidents.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud operations, platform engineering, or a related role, including hands-on experience supporting production workloads in AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS fundamentals, including IAM, ECR, container services such as App Runner, Lambda, S3, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, Docker, and infrastructure as code using Terraform, AWS SAM, or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with monitoring, production troubleshooting, incident support, and clear operational documentation.
  • Solid security fundamentals, including least privilege, networking, encryption, secret hygiene, and dependency or image scanning.
  • Fluency with at least one language for automation, such as TypeScript, Python, or Bash.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to learn an existing platform, contribute recommendations, document decisions, and grow into technical leadership.

Nice to have:

  • Experience supporting Flutter/Gradle/Google Play, Xcode/TestFlight/App Store, or Next.js delivery pipelines.
  • Knowledge of GDPR/CCPA considerations, PII handling, and data-residency patterns.
  • Familiarity with Sentry, OpenTelemetry, MongoDB Atlas, Snyk/Trivy, or AWS cost and security tooling.
